The night before our 2010 Project-JK Rockin Rubicon Trail Run, I asked my friend Tom why he wanted to run this trail and he casually responded that "if you want to be an accomplished four wheeler, there are a few places in this world you have to go and one is the Rubicon." Crossing through the El Dorado National Forest up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Rubicon Trail is truly one of the most beautiful ones I've been on bar none. Of course, its unrelenting 22 miles of boulders that need to be crawled, steep ledges that need to be climbed, narrow trees that need to be squeezed between, deep muddy water crossings that need to be forded and tippy off camber terrain that needs to be carefully negotiated is ultimately what makes the Rubicon Trail so legendary and famous around the world.

Cobra 29 LTD BT CB Radio
Jeep JK Wrangler Installation
Over the years, I have installed and tested out a few different CB Radios of different makes and models and while they all did the job, they all lack options that I wanted and their performance was always just okay at best. In fact, some were difficult to hear, a couple were temperamental and others simply died after a short amount of use. Needless to say, when it came time to look for a new CB Radio for our Orange Jeep JK Wrangler, I decided to do some research and if necessary, spend a bit more money to get a better product. And, what I finally ended up getting was a Cobra 29 LTD BT.
Sprint Booster Jeep JK Wrangler
Installation Write-Up & Review

Having come from a background of CJ’s, TJ’s and XJ’s that all came with nice torquey 258 or 4.0L I-6 engines, it was hard for me to get used to the lathargic 3.8L V6 that the JK’s come with. Granted, my previous Jeeps may not have been speed demons but, at least would get up and go as soon as you hit the gas. More than the motor, the problem with lag that the JK’s have comes from the fact that they now come with an ETC or electric Throttle Control. And, while there are solutions available that can help address this lag by allowing you to reprogram your computer, there is another solution that does a great job of helping out as well - Sprint Booster.

TeraFlex Jeep JK Wrangler
Elka Suspension Reservoir Shocks

Right out of the box, you can see that TeraFlex Elka Suspension Reservoir Shocks are made out of high quality materials and are constructed with great attention to detail. On pavement, these shocks offer a firm but comfortable ride and if anything, I would have to say that they offer a sports car like feel. Of course, where these shocks really shine is off-road as they do an excellent job of eating up ruts and good sized whoops at high speeds. On the rocks, they do a great job of providing a nice stable crawl with minimal body roll.
